Freestyle wrestling has been internationally sanctioned since the first Gay Games, and traditionally drawn strong teams from Europe, Canada, the United States and Australia. The Gay Games featured a women's division 10 years before the 2004 Athens Olympics. This time it will again be a trailblazer, adding a veteran's division for wrestlers 50 years of age and older. The tournament will take place in a hotbed of American wrestling, Northwestern University, a Big Ten Conference powerhouse, in Welsh-Ryan Arena, the site of the prestigious Midlands Championships. |
