Chicago Welcomes You!
Dear Friends;
Chicago has many nicknames. You might know us as "The Windy City," or "The City That Works"; "The City of Broad Shoulders," or the "Second City." Chicago is also known as the "City of Neighborhoods," "Tree City," and the "City by the Lake." Whatever our nickname, Chi-town and its suburbs are a world-class metropolis of more than 9 million souls who have built an international reputation as a center for commerce and trade, architecture, sports and recreation, tolerance and diversity, and public and performing arts.

Chicago and its LGBT community stand ready to welcome you to Gay Games VII Sports and Cultural Festival, an 8-day-long celebration of the principles of the Gay Games movement. You will take your place with the nearly 50,000 individuals before you who have experienced the Gay Games- the life-changing moments, the life-long friends, and the pride and emotion that come by being part of the heritage and legacy of a 25-year movement that has truly changed the world.
Chicago's Host Committee and our thousands of volunteers will ensure that your Gay Games experience is as rich and meaningful as you can possibly dream. The sports competitions will be top-flight, with experienced managers who have already directed some of the largest LGBT sports tournaments in the world. The arts and cultural festival will make you swell with pride at our community's contributions, and make you wonder why it took so long for you to visit (or come back to) Chicago.
And all those "hum-drum" nicknames for Chicago? "City That Works"? You will come to appreciate those qualities as your Gay Games experience will be smooth, with transit systems that operate on time, health and safety number one, helpful and friendly volunteers, and a Gay Games that sets the standard for future fiscal responsibility.
This is a city that meets its reputation head on and impresses every visitor anew. We look forward to welcoming you to Chicago in July of 2006 and demonstrating that most of all, we are "Where The World Meets."
Sincerely,
Board of Directors and Staff
