The feel of cool water coursing over your body, the burn in your muscles, the rhythm of the stroke, the adrenalin of competition, the brief glimpse at the next lane as your head turns to grab a gulp of air, the cheer of the crowd as you race to the finish line ... it's no wonder that swimming is consistently among the largest participant sports at the Gay Games.

Gay Games VII will be no exception as we will host as many as 1500 swimmers from all over the world competing for medals and personal best times in more than 20 individual events and relays.

The return of the Gay Games to North America for the first time since 1994 will give the USA Midwest a chance to demonstrate its strength and dedication to the sport of swimming. Produced in cooperation with International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics (IGLA), with competitors in gender and age categories as defined by La Fédération Internationale de Natation Amateur (FINA), and held at the University of Chicago’s Myers-McLoraine Pool, a top-notch "Division 1" collegiate facility, the swimming competition will meet and exceed your every expectation.

Of course, what Gay Games would be complete without the ever popular Pink Flamingo(TM) Relays in the Aqua Mania show to display both taste and style. The Thursday night show will be a crowd pleaser.

But, then again, if you are a swimmer you already know that this sport is not only popular among participants, it's among the most popular sports for spectators as well. So grab your suit, your goggles, and your camera and lets all get down to the pool!
