December 9, 2004 – Chicago and the Federation of Gay Games are proud to announce that we have added Squash to the lineup for Gay Games VII. Originally left off the schedule in favor of Racquetball (an “either/or” choice asked of the Chicago hosts), the FGG Sports Committee and the Gay Games Sports Directors have mutually agreed that this racquet sport – featured at the last four Gay Games – will once again be offered. Registration for Squash is now open.

The sport of Squash was first played over 100 years ago and is now enjoyed in over 153 nations (124 World Squash Federation members), on 50,000 courts, with its popularity continuing to grow rapidly. The WSF is responsible for ensuring that Squash is represented in all major regional multi-sport Games and in the Olympic Games. It is conducting a high-profile campaign to be included as a full medal sport in the Olympic Games by 2012. Squash is now included in the Pan-American Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, World Games and All Africa Games.
