Chicago’s soccer community is one of the most vibrant in the world. Many of the citizens of Chicago come from a wide range of regions, such as Latin America and Europe, where football (soccer) is the primary sport. This has lead to a massive development of soccer leagues and clubs in the city and suburbs. Chicago is home to two men’s professional soccer teams; Major League Soccer’s The Chicago Fire and Major Indoor Soccer’s Chicago Storm. Chicago has also played host to both the Men’s and Women’s World Cup. The Chicago Gay Games Soccer competition will be played on the fields of the University of Illinois – Chicago. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three pool play games that determine seeding for the single-elimination tournament.
