DanceSport provides a fantastic opportunity to encourage participation among novices and professionals alike. Dancers of various abilities and experience will take to the floor in a broad range of skill levels and dance styles, providing extremely lively competition, and a great spectator event. Same-sex couples dance has established a grand tradition of showcasing the elegance of our community. In addition, there will be events for couples comprised of one wheelchair user and one partner.



History of Country Western Dancing in the Gay Games
2004-09-01

Country Western Dancing in its various forms has been part of the Gay Games since the very beginning of our movement.

Gay Games I – 1982 – San Francisco, CA
The Foggy City Squares group was featured in the very first segment of the very first Opening Ceremony. The group renamed itself Foggy City Dancers in 1983 and is currently a member of both the International Association of Gay Square Dance Clubs and the International Association of Gay Country & Western Dance Clubs.
