Open Recreational
Women's Recreational

Rules/Sanctioning
The Open competition will follow the rules of the Gay Super Bowl with modifications. The Women’s competition will follow the rules of the International Women’s Flag Football Association (IWFFA) with modifications. A complete set of rules for both open and women will be available here at a later date.

Competitive Division
Teams in the Competitive division should include teams in the top half of their local flag football league. Teams that have competed in the Gay Super Bowl should also be included in the Open Competitive division. Women’s teams that have competed in IWFFA tournaments or other national tournaments should be included in the women’s Competitive division. The Competitive division for both open and women will allow more downfield contact.

Recreational Division
Teams in the Recreational division should include teams in the lower half of their local flag football league. Teams who have competed in the Gay Super Bowl or Women’s national tournaments are encouraged to play in the Competitive divisions, but may play in the Recreational division subject to approval of the Flag Football sports managers. This division should also include less experienced teams and will allow less contact than Competitive.

The primary difference between the two divisions will be the level of experience/athleticism. The Competitive division will allow downfield contact/blocking while the Recreational division will not. Both divisions will allow some contact at the line of scrimmage as defined in the Rules. It will be up to the team captains to determine which division they will play in. Teams in Recreational division shall be observed by game officials and the flag football sports manager and may be moved up to the competitive division for tournament play. This determination is at the sole discretion of the flag football sports managers.
