We invite you to experience the exciting world of COLOR GUARD!!
This may be one of the least familiar of all events taking place in Chicago as part of Gay Games VII. It may also turn out to be one of the most talked about and celebrated. One thing is for sure: there is nothing else quite like it in the Games.
Competitive Color Guard has grown tremendously over the years. Official competitions exist today in the Unites States, Canada, Holland, Japan, England, Korea, Germany, Ireland, and South Africa and involve over 11,000 high school and college aged athletes. But in a process known as “aging out”, many of these participants find themselves searching for a chance to continue the activity when they can no longer perform with high school bands or drum & bugle corps. In 2006, the Gay Games will provide such an opportunity.

Chicago’s Righteously Outrageous Twirling Corp or ROTC is proud to be your host at this first-ever, officially sanctioned Color Guard Event as part of the Cultural Program of the Gay Games. Our Exhibition will showcase performances by both Color Guards and Cheer Teams and is scheduled to take place in the sophisticated and dazzling Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park on Sunday, 16 July 2006.
Color Guard members are also invited to join in a mass color guard production as part of the Opening Ceremony in Soldier Field. In addition, individual color guards can perform their own routines at various sporting and cultural venues throughout Chicago during the duration of the Games. A sign-up sheet will be available to schedule these performances. Securing these performance venues will be available to groups on a first come first serve basis. So sign your group up early!
